Diplo had to have chocolates and meditation on hand to calm him down when his airplane window cracked mid-flight this summer. He wound up landing safely and shared in an Instagram post, “Yesterday I learned that life is fragile so I started a skin care routine. Also if your [sic] thinking of dating me or even a one night stand you should hit me up soon cause you never know I could be eaten by an alligator or something on one of my wierd tours.”
Brandi Cyrus revealed on an episode of her podcast that she, Tish and Miley experienced a scary landing while on their way to Glastonbury in England in 2019. She described their plane going in for a landing before coming up abruptly to avoid hitting another plane. The aircraft reportedly then went in to try for a second landing and again the pilot had to take the plane back up after realizing another plane was on the runway. The flight crew told passengers the mishap was due to a multitude of planes coming in for the festival, Brandi said.

Chrisite Brinkley remembered the 25th anniversary of her nearly fatal helicopter crash by sharing the People cover that detailed her account from April 19, 1994. Brinkley was on a remote ski trip that required the model to arrive by helicopter. The chopper faltered when it took an overzealous turn and crash-landed on the side of the mountain. Brinkley eventually fell out of the side of the helicopter’s open door. Everyone survived the accident.
Jason Momoa brings the heat on the red carpet, but things got too hot to handle when his airplane had to make an emergency landing after a fire. “Half an hour out of Palm Springs and the plane wanted to start a fire,” he shared on Instagram. The plane was able to be fixed and was back up and running after a visit from the fire department.
Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday trip to Mexico took a wrong turn when her plane had to make an emergency landing in Ontario, California. Courteney Cox, who was joining Aniston on the trip, described the ordeal to “Extra.” “…We heard this really loud bang, I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds like we should probably check that tire. There was no tire at all, there was no wheel. Luckily, there are two wheels on each side and two in the front.” Cox said later that they were able to land smoothly despite missing a wheel, and the group eventually made it to Mexico.
Post Malone’s private plane blew a tire in 2018 and had to make an emergency landing after circling for hours to burn off fuel. The Gulfstream IV carrying him and 15 others blew its two left tires as it took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. They were able to make a safe landing but the rapper was flummoxed by the public response. “Can’t believe how many people wished death on me on this website…but not today,” He tweeted.
Morgan Freeman was another victim of a blown tire on his flight to Texas to shoot scenes for “The Story of God” in 2015. They were fortunately able to land safely but the plane apparently needed a lot of work. He told us in 2017, “I have this airplane in the shop for a year and a half. I want to get it back. I want to fly it.”
Leonardo DiCaprio told Wired details of his scary plane ride about a decade ago that included a ball of fire. “I was in business class, and an engine blew up in front of my eyes,” he recalled. “I was sitting there looking out at the wing, and the entire wing exploded in a fireball. They shut all the engines off for a couple of minutes, so you’re just sitting there gliding with absolutely no sound, and nobody in the plane was saying anything. It was a surreal experience. They started the engines back up, and we did an emergency landing at JFK.”
Harrison Ford has had multiple close calls during his career as a pilot. In 2015 he crash-landed his vintage fighter plane on a golf course in Santa Monica, California, which resulted in Ford sustaining a broken arm and multiple scalp lacerations. In 2017, he was in hot water for endangering the lives of 100 passengers in a commercial jetliner when he flew over them and mistakenly landed on the airport taxiway instead of the runway, but he didn’t face any penalties from the FAA.
Back in 2009, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher got caught in a scary snafu when their engine overheated and they had to make an emergency landing. The fire department arrived to assist and Kutcher tweeted that he was “happy to be alive.”
