Former Hollyoaks star Emmett Scanlan has shared a rare selfie with his daughter Kayla as she starts her higher education.

The soap actor, who played Brendan Brady on the hit Channel 4 show, took to Instagram to share a lengthy post to wish his 19 year old daughter good luck as she starts her cert, which is the equivalent to A levels that youths aged 17 to 19 study in Ireland.

Emmett, 42, shared a selection of sweet snaps of the father-daughter duo as he proudly boasted of his daughter’s achievements during a global pandemic.

He told his 97,000 followers on Instagram how he is “forever proud” of his daughter as she starts the next stage in her life.

The father-of-two wrote: “Break legs to me baby girl starting her cert tomorrow (that’s A levels for all you British folk) … I’m forever proud of you Kaylz no matter how these tests go down ..

“In fact how these tests go down has never been the point of all this and in the grand scheme of things doesn’t really matter; it never mattered …”

He added: “It’s always been the journey. How you’ve held yourself on your own personal journey during this very difficult and challenging time is all that matters. To me. And you did that with grace & dignity.

“You did that like a f***in legend. That said, if you don’t get all A’s we’re done …"

His celebrity friends were quick to wish his daughter Kayla good luck with her exams after a challenging year with strained access to school facilities.

Hollyoaks co-star Bronagh Waugh commented: “Wee dote, god love her! So much pressure on them esp this year.

“Look at what a beautiful, graceful young woman she’s become. Heart is full! You must be so proud love!” with three green heart emojis.

Irish actress Sharon Horgan, who stars alongside James McAvoy in their latest show Together, chimed: “She’s so pretty.”

Actress Anna Friel added: “Good luck. You are very beautiful” with a red heart emoji.

This comes after the Irish heartthrob welcomed his second child, a baby boy, with his wife Clair Cooper in July last year.

The soap stars have since shared glimpses of his life and their home together over the past year after they announced his name is Ocean-Torin.

The loved-up couple first met on the set of Hollyoaks when they worked across from each other on set and eventually tied the knot in 2015.
