Britney Spears has had one rocky love life. She’s endured failed relationship after failed relationship. And the other aspects of her life haven’t been going all that well either.
Recently, she checked herself into a wellness facility after being a caretaker for her sick father.
“Britney just needed to focus on herself,” a source told People at the time. “Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”
But through all of this, her boyfriend Sam Asghari has remained by her side.
How did Asghari and Spears meet?
The two met on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video.
“We were shooting and we were doing this scene where I was doing the walk scene through the hall to go through the door to go to the bedroom, and we were sitting there and we were waiting and waiting together for 20 minutes at a time,” Spears told AMP 103.7’s Fast in the Morning with Nathan Fast and Sybil Summers of how they met.
“So we were basically forced to talk to each other and he has no idea—I mean, he knows my name—but he doesn’t know me as a person. He’s like ‘What is this girl like?’ and I have no idea who the hell he is,” she said.
Are they engaged?
On Monday, Spears and Asghari walked their first red carpet together for the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
And while that was noteworthy enough, what really got fans talking was the enormous diamond on Spears’ ring finger. After seeing it, people immediately started to wonder if the singer was engaged.
But sources have told Entertainment Tonight that the ring was just a “design statement” and not an engagement ring.
Spears’ other marriages
Though it’s disappointing that Spears isn’t engaged, it’s probably for the best. She doesn’t have a great history when it comes to rushed marriages.
She married Jason Alexander in a shotgun wedding in Las Vegas in 2004. Apparently, she was so upset by the wedding that she couldn’t stop crying.
Singer Lance Bass recently told Andy Cohen that he came out to her in order to stop her from crying.
“I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening,” Bass said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “And she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know, it was a funny thing. And then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset. And so I took her to her room and we were sitting on her bed and she wouldn’t stop crying, so I was like, ‘I’m gay.’ And it made her stop crying… She chuckled.”
The marriage was quickly annulled.
She then got engaged to Kevin Federline after only three months of dating. Their marriage only lasted for two years.
