The series premiere of The Hills: New Beginnings is just hours away and fans of the original series are excited to see Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, and more back in action.
The Hills was notorious for its scripted elements and in the series finale, Kristin Cavallari was seen driving away from Brody, who is standing with the Hollywood sign behind him in the distance. As the car drives away, the backdrop is wheeled away to reveal that they are on a film set and Kristin gets out of the car and runs back to Brody to give him a hug while the crew members applaud.
So, is New Beginnings going to be as scripted as the original?
“From what I gather from being new, this is completely different this time round, because it’s not the same production company it’s not the same thing, it’s more real. There’s also an element of it just goes where it goes. Obviously they can’t be everywhere all the time, so it depends on what happens with people over the course of filming and that dictates where the filming goes so it’s the same for everyone,” cast newcomer Mischa Barton told Digital Spy. “It can feel like it’s set up but it’s really not. It’s dictated by what drama’s going on.”
“I think you’ll see right off the bat, you cannot hide what’s going. We try because sometimes we don’t want everything filmed and they just get, they capture it,” Justin Bobby added. “Before, when we were younger, we were like, ‘How’s this going to play out? How’s this going to look?’ But now we’ve honed in on ourselves a little bit more to understand [and] to know what we’re going to put out there and just accept it.”
The Hills: New Beginnings airs on MTV on Monday nights at 10pm.
