“It will be so strange not seeing him on our screens, watching the masterful way he tells a story, and witnessing the knowledge and experience he brings to our newsroom.
“I feel honoured to have worked with him.”
The video Charlene reposted from ITV with her tweet said: “@tombradby pays tribute to veteran @itvnews correspondent Paul Davies who today ends a remarkable 39 year career with @itn covering some of the biggest stories at home and abroad.”
Fans of Paul were quick to comment their well wishes to the star along with a happy retirement.
Skynewsgirl said: “The nicest and kindest and most brilliant correspondent I ever had the privilege to produce.”

Paul has covered incredible stories for ITV including the seige of Dubrovnik and covering the horror of the Srebrenica genocide.
ITN said about his retirement: “He leaves ITN having brought the modern world into our living rooms and allowed us to witness a new world being born.”
Charlene herself has had a lengthy career with ITN, joining the news show as a newscaster for ITV News at 5:30.
She discontinued this role in 2012 though remained as a presenter of ITV’s main 6pm news programme.
In April 2014 she became the first black woman to present ITV News At Ten.
She made her debut on Loose Women in 2020, and returned in January of this year as a regular presenter following Andrea McLean’s departure.
Charlene got into a very heated debate with Loose Women co-star Carol McGiffin this week as they clashed during a debate over vaccines.
Carol said she would not be getting the Covid booster jab, angering Charlene who speaks to medical professionals daily on her news segment.
