Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 38, has shared her heartbreak after the death of Andrew Corbet Burcher, a “legend” at London’s Dance Attic Studios who played a “special” part in her engagement to Aljaz Skorjanec, 31. In a heartfelt Instagram post today, the dancer shared a black and white photograph of Andrew looking out onto the road from the doorway of the dance studio.

She wrote: “Such sad news. We have known Andrew for 11 years, and he was a very special part of our engagement.

“As they said themselves, he was @danceatticstudios… Always greeting you with a smile and a cheeky joke.

“We will miss him very much. They don’t make many like him anymore.

“All of our love to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Janette and Aljaz met at the dance studio in 2010.

The Slovenian dancer has said he remembers their first meeting “like it was yesterday”.

Speaking to The Times, Aljaz said: “I went to a dance studio in Fulham to audition for a touring theatre show.

“Janette was already part of the company and I walked into the room and locked eyes on her straight away.

“It was love at first sight and from that moment on impressing her became just as important to me as getting into the show.”

The studio was so special to them that Aljaz decided to propose there in 2015.

Aljaz got on one knee with You and I by Michael Bublé playing in the background.

Then, after Janette said yes, they danced alone in the studio for 30 minutes with the song on repeat.

The couple went on to have three weddings. One in London for their Strictly family, one in Slovenia with Aljaz’s loved ones and another in Malibu for Janette’s side.

The death of Andrew has saddened many dancers across the world.

Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice said: “See you later legend,” and Oti Mabuse added a broken heart emoji.

Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt penned: “Oh this breaks my heart. What a legend. Loved my chats with him.”

Dancer Charlotte Habibi replied: “My heart goes out to you all. He will be so greatly missed and so wonderfully remembered.

“A staple familiar face throughout my career, always welcoming, kind, attentive, regardless of whether I was there to rehearse or audition.

“Sending love to his family and friends. Know that he provided so many people comfort and genuine warmth.”

Lisa Spencer added: “Andrew was a legend and such a figure head of dance attic, he will be missed.”
