Months after completing a year-long probation that banned booze, Luann de Lesseps says she will now occasionally drink alcohol.
The “Real Housewives of New York” star, 54, recently told People that “New Year’s has been a time of reflection,” following her probation that was tied to a December 2017 arrest for disorderly intoxication.
“I’ve learned a great deal about myself, and I’m in a very good place and finally back in the driver’s seat,” she said.
In August, de Lesseps announced she had finished her probation, thanking fans for their support in a handwritten note posted to Instagram. “I’m happy to say that after a long difficult year … I’ve made it through!” she wrote. “I’m humbled and grateful for this life lesson and ready to put the past behind me and move on with my life.”
De Lesseps’ journey has long been documented, beginning in late 2017, when she checked into rehab following her Palm Beach arrest. In July 2018, she sought treatment for the second time in less than a year. She agreed to a plea deal a month later, which included a year-long probation.
In May of last year, de Lesseps was accused of not taking her probation seriously. Court documents noted the “Countess and Friends” star admitted to her probation officer she drank “two glasses of mimosas after a performance she had in Chicago.” She was ordered back to court for violating her probation and taken into custody but later released.
“The reports have not been accurate so I’m glad the judge was understanding after being made aware of the facts. I look forward to completing the last couple months of probation and getting this entire situation behind me and moving on with my life,” de Lesseps told Page Six in a statement at the time.
With the new year officially underway, de Lesseps is taking things a day at a time.
“I’ve always said my journey is day by day,” she said. “I’m toasting to a happy new year ahead!”
