Our Farm In The Dales star Matt Baker, 43, has taken to Instagram to share two new additions to his family, as his wife Nicola revealed the sweet names that the family have picked for the new members. In a short clip, the former Blue Peter presenter introduced two newly-hatched Seramas to his fans, as his wife explained the meaning behind their names.

Introducing the two new arrivals to his brood, Matt affectionately held up the cute farm animals to show his 276,000 followers.

Holding two newly hatched chicks, the star said they had arrived while he’d been away covering the Olympic games.

Matt said: “Hi all, just taking a little break from the Olympics and look what’s hatched whilst I’ve been away.”

The star showcased the sweet birds in front of the camera, as one eagerly tried to explore its surroundings.

He continued: “These are Seramas, the smallest chickens in the world.

“But I just thought I’d let you know that tonight, on Channel 4 at 7pm, Our Farm In The Dales starts, the first series is going to be shown on Channel 4.”

Matt went on to give his followers some background about the farming show, which follows his family’s move up to Yorkshire to work on his parent’s farm.

“If you don’t know, it’s a programme that’s based on our farm up in the dales with all of our animals and all of our family,” he explained.

“And if you’d like something to watch while all of the athletes are asleep in Japan, then it would be lovely for you to join us

“7pm, Channel 4, see you there,” Matt said, while signing off.

Despite Matt not giving away the names of the family’s newest arrivals, his wife Nicola took to the comments to reveal the Olympics-inspired names they had chosen for the chickens.

She wrote: “We called them Tokyo and Roly – they’re big fans of the Olympics! (especially the gymnastics),” she added.

Nicola’s comment comes after her husband documented his time commentating on the Olympics on social media.

In a recent clip, the star said he was preparing to “settle in for some long-haul commentary”, which involved watching over 12 hours of gymnastics.

However, instead of travelling to Japan, Matt made his way to the BBC’s studio in Salford ahead of commentating.

Giving his followers a behind-the-scenes view of where he was working from, Matt voiced his support for Team GB as he settled into his studio booth which was decorated with flags.

“So when you’re watching the Olympics and you’re listening to all of us commentators, this is where we are,” Matt explained as he panned around the studio.

Our Farm in the Dales was a popular More4 documentary series that aired earlier this year.

The programme followed Countryfile presenter Matt Baker along with his wife and children as they moved to his parents’ farm in County Durham, as well as documenting their efforts to run it.

The show broke More4 broadcasting records when it aired in March 2021, with 1.8 million viewers tuning in.
