Prince’s estate has released never-before-seen footage in a video for “Manic Monday” in partnership with Warner Records.
The video for “Manic Monday,” which was featured on the recently-released Originals album, shows off Prince’s legendary dance moves.
“Together with archival footage from his vault, these recordings provide a rare window into Prince’s creative process in this wildly productive era,” says a teaser ahead of the video. “1984 was an astonishingly prolific year in Prince’s career.”
“Manic Monday” was originally written by Prince in 1984 for the pop rock band The Bangles, using the pseudonym “Christopher”.
Lyrically, it describes a woman who is waking up to go to work on Monday, wishing it were still Sunday so she could instead relax.
