James Corden and his producer have revealed his pal Prince Harry reached out to them to go on the Late Late Show back in February.

The 42 year old, who recently said he thinks Harry is going through a tough time since his move to the US, appeared on a video panel during a For Your Consideration event to talk about their time on screen together.

The host of The Late Late Show with James Corden explained to famed drag queen RuPaul, 60, that the Duke of Sussex had been offering to go on the programme to "do something" for years.

"There was a certain time in London if you went out long enough and ended up drinking long enough, you'd probably bump into Prince Harry once in a while," James joked as RuPaul asked: "Really?"

James continued: "No, I'm joking… No, I'd met him a couple of times and I've always been very, very fond of him."

The CBS presenter went on to reveal that Prince Harry, 36, had asked him to do a "10 minute performance" at his wedding to Meghan Markle, 39, back in 2018, which brought them "very much closer".

The royal then reached out to James' producer Ben Winston to get the ball rolling on an appearance on the show as James said: "And then I think, Harry had always mentioned, he'd always sort of said, 'Oh I'd love to do something on the show.'

"But, he reached out to you, right Ben? Saying, 'Can we do this?'"

Ben replied: "Yeah, he sort of was like, 'This'll be fun. We're coming out of lockdown. I'm in LA, do you think we could, you know, shall we plan something fun to almost cheer everybody up in a way?'"

He added: "Obviously, as soon as you say something like that to us and our team, our brains go crazy."

During his bombshell interview on the open top bus tour, Prince Harry insisted he and wife Meghan "stepped back" from royal duties, rather than having "stepped down," and said his life will always be dedicated to public service.

"It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw," he explained.

"We all know what the British press can be like. And it was destroying my mental health. This is toxic."

Harry, who made a series of big revelations during the chat, continued: "So I did what any father or husband would do and though, 'How do I get my family out of here?'.

"But we never walked away and as far as I'm concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away.

"My life is public service so wherever I am in the world it's going to be the same thing," he added.
