Strictly’s Janette Manrara issues statement after accidentally kicking dog on Morning Live

Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two Host Janette Manrara has issued a statement after accidentally kicking a dog live on TV.

The 38 year old Strictly Come Dancing pro was appearing on BBC's Morning Live when she and her husband Aljaž Škorjanec went to perform a professional dancing spin, and her foot collided with a dog named Dolly, who was on set.

As Morning Live host Gethin Jones brought the show to a close, the camera cut to a clip of Janette and Aljaž starting their spin as Gethin said: "Take it away".

The couple spun gracefully before Dolly came over to see what was going on, and Janette's foot collided with the golden Labrador's head as the show quickly cut to the end credits.

Viewers were left concerned for the dog, taking to Twitter to comment on the incident, with one person writing: "Did anyone just see Janette Manrara boot that dog in the head on #MorningLive while Aljaz was spinning her round?"

Another wrote: "I hope that dog's OK! Just got smacked in the face by a dancer!", whilst someone else said: "The dog on #MorningLive just got a wrestling-style superkick."

Dr James Greenwood, who regularly appears on Morning Live, reassured those concerned, via Twitter, that Dolly was ok, writing: "Just home from @BBCMorningLive – THANK YOU everyone for all your messages and concerns after Dollies eagerness to join in with #strictlyfitness this morning! & to reassure everyone that she is 100% fine, all is OK and she’s currently back to charging around the garden!"

Janette herself made light of the unfortunate incident, posting a picture to her Instagram stories that included the show's presenters and those making appearances gathered together, with the show's host Gethin Jones lying on the floor with Dolly and another dog in their midst.

Over the top of the snap, Janette wrote: "This photo was taken after my sincere apologies to "Dolly"!

"She stepped into Aljaž and I doing our little lift at the end of the show. Her excitement to join was high!

"She is completely okay and we cuddled and kissed and made up".

Janette added a love heart emoji on the end of the text for good measure.

She shrugged off any drama from the incident, as her next post featured a renovated house, and she revealed that it had inspired her to start hunting for a new home.

Alongside the image, Janette wrote: "This renovation is simply STUNNING! House hunting as we speak as feeling inspired by it!"

Janette and Aljaž have been married since 2017, and Aljaž recently announced that he would be quitting Strictly Come Dancing after nine years as a professional dancer on the show.
