'The Voice' Fans Lost It When Jim and Sasha Allen's Performance Was Suddenly Interrupted

Nov 19, 2021

Season 21 of The Voice is quickly narrowing down the competition to crown the next winner of the NBC singing competition series. But while trying to earn a spot in the semifinals, father-son duo Jim and Sasha Allen’s emotional performance was unexpectedly interrupted — and folks watching from home weren’t happy about it.

During Monday night’s semifinals, Jim and Sasha took the stage on behalf of Team Ariana to perform Elton John’s “Your Song.” The singers from Newtown, Connecticut dedicated the performance to a family member named Stephanie, a dancer and medical student who died at the age of 26. “Losing Stephanie was like missing a piece in a puzzle,” they said behind the scenes. “Her drive and her passion is so inspiring for both of us. We also feel her presence. The song helps us celebrate that she was with us.”

With that, Jim began strumming on his acoustic guitar and Sasha took the lead in vocals. In their now-signature way, the pair harmonized back and forth, and moved many viewers tuning in from their living rooms. But just before their nearly three-minute performance was over, two dark shadows ran across the stage and camera.

Despite being immersed in their singing, fans were immediately brought back to reality after seeing what appears to be a camera person followed by another crew member holding a light. Before the night was through, The Voice posted Jim and Sasha’s number on their official YouTube page and folks took this as an opportunity to sound off in the comments section.

As it turns out, the song was pulling at people’s heartstrings, but the moment was cut short and not everyone was happy about this. “1:57 lol who are these people? I was about to cry and they just killed my mood 💀,” one person wrote. “Casually misplaced camera crew,” a different fan replied back. Still, others in the thread shared that they chuckled when the two crew members tried their hardest to be inconspicuous but failed.

In the end, Jim and Sasha received a roar of applause and cheers from both the live audience and the coaches. Blake Shelton congratulated Ariana Grande on picking them and helping them grow as singers.

“I would say since this season began, I don’t know if anybody would argue with me, but I’ve seen the greatest strides, the great improvement,” the country music singer said. “Last week was unbelievable and you did it again, and now you’re under the toughest as it gets. This is the lives’ pressure and you guys are doing great in it. Good job, Ariana! I got to say.”

We couldn’t agree more!
