Tom Parker has opened up on the mental struggle he went through when doctors diagnosed him with an inoperable brain tumour.
The 33 year old was given the devastating news in October 2020, and exclusively told OK! at the time that it was "the worst case scenario" as he has grade four glioblastoma.
Now, The Wanted star has confessed it was the mental side of the cancer over the physical that was more difficult to deal with.
Speaking to TV presenter Davina McCall, 54, as he appeared with his bandmates on Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer night, he explained: "You've just got to have a positive mindset.
"I think cancer can consume you… There was a time at the start of this journey where I just couldn't get out of bed."
Tom, who was recently branded a hero as he bravely opened up on his cancer battle, went on to explain how he thought there was little point in getting up and starting the day as he was convinced he was going to die.
He continued: "It was the mental not the physical… I was thinking what's the point of getting out of bed, I'm going to die."
When asked what gave him the strength to keep going, he replied: "I had to, I've got kids."
Tom shares daughter Aurelia, two, and 11 month old Bodhi, with his 31 year old wife Kelsey Hardwick.
It comes after he and his wife appeared on ITV's This Morning to speak out about his journey as he told hosts Holly Willoughby, 40, and Phillip Schofield, 59, that he's been "feeling very positive".
“Medication is now every three week because I’ve been responding so well. So yes, positive," he shared.
When asked by the presenting duo how he was feeling on Thursday 7 October, he explained: “I wouldn’t have been able to do this five months ago, put it that way.
