Adele performed a string of her best hits for the ITV show in front of a star-studded audience and answered some questions from some of her celebrity friends. During the concert, Piers Morgan took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

The 56-year-old shared a picture of the singer and wrote: “If I was at this #AnAudienceWithAdele, I’d ask her two questions…

“1) Does the unctuous sycophancy from your celebrity fans make you want to vomit?

“2) How come you’re singing more perfectly ‘live’ than on your records?”

He went on to write: “This probably explains why I wasn’t invited.”

His comment certainly sparked a backlash from many Adele fans on Twitter.

Martyn commented: “Just enjoy something for once, Piers. Life is too short.”

Becky wrote: “I mean you’re obviously watching intently enough to point all this out. Get over yourself, mate.”

Jen Danaher added: “Why can’t you just celebrate and enjoy such a wonderful British success story? What is wrong with you?”
