After Sam Thompson was forced to delete a video where he appeared to mock his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott last week, new magazine can reveal that friends are now urging Zara not to let Sam make a fool of her.

The short clip showed Sam lip-syncing along to a scene from Made In Chelsea where Zara, 23, tearfully begs for his forgiveness following their split.

Fans hit out at Sam, 28, saying it was insensitive, but he was quick to defend his actions, insisting Zara had given him permission to post the video.

But friends are worried Zara is letting Sam walk all over her.

“Zara is still desperate to win Sam back,” new's insider revealed.

“She’s willing to do whatever it takes to stay close to him and prove they should get back together. But friends don’t want her to make a fool of herself or allow Sam to either.

"When the episode of their split aired, loads of viewers were mocking Zara.

"She’s been so heartbroken and it was hard for her to see so many people making fun of a moment that was so difficult for her.

“Her friends know Sam wouldn’t try to be nasty towards her but they’re a bit confused as to why Zara would be OK for him to use that audio for a funny video,” the source added.

“They assumed it would still be too raw. They think that just because she’s feels responsible for the split, doesn’t mean she should allow herself to be humiliated.

"They don’t think there’s anything wrong with her standing up for herself.”

Zara and Sam’s relationship came to an end in September after she admitted to being unfaithful during her time on the The X Factor: Celebrity last summer.

She caused further heartache when she was caught liking the man’s photos on Instagram, thought to be music producer Brahim Fouradi.

The former Love Island star begged for Sam’s forgiveness on an Instagram video and sources say she’s still hopeful they’ll reconcile.

But friends believe she needs to move on and make a clean break.

“Sam and Zara have stayed friendly since the split,” the source continued.

“They thought that would be easier as they had such a good friendship during their relationship.

"But Sam has said to friends there’s no way back.

"The thing that hurts the most is she liked photos of the guy after the fling. He felt so betrayed.

“Friends think the best thing for Zara is to walk away and cut Sam out so she can move on and heal.”
