Porsche Has Turned Sally From 'Cars' Into a Real 911 Carrera GTS

Aug 13, 2022

Sally Carrera made her debut in Pixar‘s hit film Cars in 2006, capturing the hearts of children and petrolheads alike with her charm and wit that gave the Porsche a friendly face for us all to know. Now, Porsche has turned the character into a real object, debuting the one-off Porsche 911 “Sally Special.”

Based on the Carrera GTS, the car comes with a manual gearbox to not only heighten the driving experience but to also reference Sally’s love for being on the road. It’s painted in a hand-applied, multi-dimensional “Sallybluemetallic” colorway, existing as the only car to ever feature this hue, while Sally’s tattoo sits underneath the retractable aero wing at the rear. Twisted Turbo-like rims from the film are directly translated onto the real car, while details on the inside continue to provide a fitting tribute to Sally.

“Sallybluemetallic” details can be found throughout, sitting alongside a special Pepita houndstooth fabric upholstery, “Chalk” leather and “Speed Blue” stitching. Everything from the key to the clock is detailed with “Sally Special” touches, with the car sporting a “Kachow!” mode, Cars logo embossing in the door cards, a special graphic of the character and series title on the dashboard, “Sally Special” illuminated door sills, and more. On the exterior, Cars dust caps can be found on the unique rims, while further commemorative details are to be found all over.

Adding to the collaborative effort, Pixar and Porsche have produced an accompanying Porsche Design chronograph watch. It features all of the same colors found on the car, and will be sold separately to the car.

As for the sale itself, this will be performed by RM Sotheby’s as part of its Monterey Car Week auction in California. Per Porsche, “A portion of the proceeds will benefit young women through a donation to Girls Inc. The second portion will go to USA for UNHCR, an organization that supports refugees from Ukraine.”
