It’s time to brush off your cloaks as The Traitors is reportedly coming back to our screens in just a matter of weeks for Red Nose Day.
It is thought the hit BBC reality programme will be turned into a sketch for the Comic Relief event starring Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and the show’s host, Claudia Winkleman.
While the Line of Duty broadcaster has promised more details about the annual charity event’s line-up will be revealed in due course, they have already teased some of what fans can expect.
Blackadder is officially set to make its return for the first time in over 20 years for Red Nose Day, which will take place on Friday, March 17.
Co-creator Richard Cutirs confirmed the epic comeback on BBC Radio 2, teasing that ‘Baldrick will be giving some kind of performance’ while there will be a ‘marvellous, turnip-based thing’ with Tony Robinson.
Elsewhere, in aid of Comic Relief, the BBC is offering up some treasures from its vault in a free Telly Treasures Giveaway, including some earrings worn by EastEnders’ Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement).
Meanwhile, AJ Odudu has teased that there will be a secret Love Island sketch for Red Nose Day
She told BBC’s The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating: ‘I am one of the hosts along with Paddy McGuinness, David Tennant, Joel Dommett, Zoe Ball and you can indeed expect sketches with the most iconic cameos – one of which includes Kylie Minogue and there’s also a special Love Island sketch of which my lips are sealed right now.’
The rumour about The Traitors sketch comes after the BBC finally confirmed it would be coming back for a second season, with Claudia returning as presenter of the series set in the Scottish Highlands.
The nail-biting show follows a group of contestants who are named either Faithful or a Traitor, although are unaware of who has been assigned to each team.
Throughout the course of the show, it’s their job to suss out and banish the Traitors during epic round tables, while the Traitors in turn ‘murder’ the Faithfuls hot on their tails.
If a small group of Faithfuls make it to the final, they will split the cash prize, but if there is a Traitor among them, they will take home the jackpot all to themselves.s
The show’s debut UK season saw Faithfuls Aaron Evans, Meryl Williams and Hannah Byczkowski walk away with the £120,000 winnings after eventually realising Wilfred Webster was a Traitor.
