Armed police take down gun-toting drug gang members in dramatic bodycam footage

Jul 18, 2019

The dramatic moment police officers took down an armed drug gang after spotting one of their weapons on CCTV was caught on video.

Having seen the barrel glinting in the sun as it was handed between gang members in a Birmingham car park, the camera operator sent in their colleagues.

Body-cam footage of the confrontation captures an officer storming out of his police car and sprinting across the road.

He intercepts Makenzie Blackburn and yells: "Put your hands up, show me your hands.

"Get on the floor, get on the floor, get on the floor."

The officer holds the 20-year-old as he lies on the ground on his front and asks him if he has a weapon.

Blackburn admits that he has a blade, prompting the officer to take a combat knife from his waistband before arresting the young man.

A second piece of bodycam footage has an officer running across a residential street towards Jordan Kibuka.

The cop raises his gun in front of the camera and points it at the 19-year-old, yelling at him to get on the ground.

A second officer armed with a large weapon tells him to lie on his belly on the floor while the illicit firearm is retrieved from a nearby wheelie bin.

Kibuka was found to be in possession of Class A drugs.

A third man, Darnell Duquesney, was also caught and arrested by officers.

The 19-year-old was the one caught on CCTV getting into a parked BMW with the weapon – a shortened shotgun – which he hid inside the leg of his trousers.

Yesterday at Birmingham Crown Court the trio were jailed for a total of 17 years.

Duquesney received a sentence of five years and one month and Kibuka a six years and eight month sentence after they admitted being in possession of a prohibited weapon.
