Many of us are taking to our kitchens during lockdown to whip up interesting and exciting new meals.

After all, there’s not much else going on at the moment.

And, supermarkets have been helping us out by sharing fun new recipes for us to try – and many of them are pretty cheap, too!

Perfect!

However, while some of the tips have been for the better, some recipes have been a bit too wild for shoppers.

Recently, Asda shared a recipe for sweet’n’sour chicken stir fry on its Instagram page, reports MEN.

Yum, you think, one of my takeaway faves.

Except, people were grossed out by the unusual “secret” ingredient used – Fanta.

One foodie said: “No, just no.”

Another wrote: "Bleugh!! No thanks."

"What the hell," said another unhappy customer.

A fourth exclaimed: "That looks like I don't want to eat it!"

To make the stir-fry sauce, the supermarket mixed Fanta Orange, fish sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, lemongrass and cornflour together before throwing it on stir fried chicken and veg.

While the trick might sound a little gross, lots of cooks use still orange juice in sweet and sour sauces.

And, many home cooks enjoy roasting chicken or ham in coca cola, beer or ginger ale.

We think it's worth a try at least…

Asda’s ideas haven’t all been rejected though.

Last week they went viral on TikTok for sharing a tortilla trick which made easy, tasty filled wraps.

Yum!
