Best supermarket Christmas party food including mini chicken waffles and bacon wrapped halloumi

Nov 11, 2021

CHRISTMAS is fast approaching and that means the party season is officially here.

Supermarkets are going all out to provide a festive selection of buffet food to make Christmas 2021 extra special.

Brits are preparing for a party-packed Christmas this year after festive get togethers with family, friends and colleagues were cancelled in 2020.

That means supermarkets have already launched loads of options in their party food collections, from mini burgers to cheesecake bites, and cheese boards to mini fish and chips.

Some supermarkets still have delivery and collection slots left but you might have to visit the stores if you can't secure a spot.

However, a lot of the best buffet food options are frozen so you could stock up early if you can't get a slot nearer to the big day.

Aldi has plenty of choice if you're wondering what to feed your party guests this Christmas.

These chicken sliders come in two different flavours- spicy or katsu.

They're on sale from December 10 and cost £3.69 for a pack of eight.

There's also British pork belly bites, mini beef wellingtons, tiny fish and chips, and a king prawn selection.

The party food is on sale at various dates in November and December – you can browse everything on offer in Aldi's Christmas brochure.

Aldi offers a click and collect option but no delivery service.

Asda has everything you need to provide a party spread for your guests.

These chocolate and blood orange snowflakes come frozen and take just ten minutes to defrost before they're ready to eat.

They have a cream and mascarpone filling with a zesty blood orange flavour, encased in Belgian chocolate in a festive snowflake shape.

You'll get nine snowflakes in a pack, which costs £3.50.

Asda's candy cane sausage roll with a sage and onion flavour could be a sumptuous savoury snack to treat guests too.

It doesn't taste like candy cane but it's shaped like one, making a standout centrepiece on your buffet table.

The sausage roll comes with a flaky pastry, topped with a crunchy sprinkle.

Asda's delivery and collection slots opened last month so it could be too late to book a delivery.

You can find your nearest Asda store here.

Iceland is known for its frozen party food and this year's festive buffet selection is no different.

The supermarket is selling this pack of eight halloumi cheese sticks wrapped in smoked streaky bacon for £3.50.

It also comes with a pot of sweet chilli dipping sauce for extra flavour.

Another option includes lasagne bites, which come in a pack of six for £3.50.

They include fettuccine pasta in a tomato and beef mince sauce, grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese, coated in breadcrumbs.

You could also include these mini Aberdeen Angus beef burgers with bread buns on your buffet.

Iceland offers home delivery or you can pop into your local store.

Lidl has a great range of buffet food including this 30-piece Indian snack selection for just £1.99.

It comes full of party-pleasers such as 10 onion bhajis, 10 vegetable pakoras and veggie samosas.

Another budget friendly option if you're feeding a crowd is these churros for £1.69.

The sweet treats come with a chocolate cream filling.

Lidl doesn't offer an online shopping option, but you can find your nearest store here.

Morrisons have got a huge selection of Christmas party food to choose from this year.

This £3 venison pate with red fruits stands out as something extra special to treat your guests to at your festive get together.

It's a mix of pork and venison, with mixed red berries including blueberries, redcurrants, cranberries and blackcurrants.

If you're catering for vegetarians or vegans this Christmas, you can make sure they don't miss out with these vegan no pigs in blankets.

The mushroom cocktail sausage is wrapped in plant-based bacon, and you'll get 10 for £2.50.

Morrisons has already opened for Christmas delivery and click and collect bookings, but capacity is limited.

You can find your nearest Morrisons store here.

Sainsbury's Christmas party collection includes treats such as these Taste the Difference chicken waffles.

The bite-sized waffles are made from chicken and are coated in a southern fried batter.

They come topped with a sweet maple drizzle and a waffle crumb to be sprinkled on top, and are available in store from November 17 for £3.50.

Another option at the supermarket is its lemongrass prawn skewers, which you can buy from December 8 for the same price.

The traditional cocktail stick is swapped out for a stick of lemongrass, while the prawns are combined with sweetcorn, red pepper, green beans and water chestnuts.

If you're looking for some more comfort food to feed your friends and family, you could opt for some mini hot dogs, which have been given a festive makeover.

The mini sausages are topped with an apple drizzle and sprinkled with crackling crumbs – a take on a traditional pork roast dinner.

You can pick them up from December 12 for £5.50.

Sainsbury's Christmas delivery slots don't open until November 30, so you're still in with a chance.

Alternatively, you can find a store to visit here.

Tesco has got some classic party food on sale this Christmas.

These cheesecake bites are full of soft cheese and sponge cake with a salted caramel centre, coated in breadcrumbs with a white confetti sprinkle.

You'll get 12 in a box, which costs £2.

There's also a great selection of savoury snacks available at Tesco this year.

These mini pizza bites – also £2 for 12 – will be popular with everyone at your Christmas bash.

The puff pastry is topped with a tomato pizza sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

Tesco delivery slots open to members on November 16, while non-members can access the booking system from November 23.

Waitrose has a £25 cheeseboard on sale, with five different cheeses.

It comes with a blue stilton, camembert, cheddar, Wensleydale and goats cheese.

If you really want to take the stress out of entertaining, you could opt for the 74 piece party platter for £35.

For your money, you'll get pork and n'djua croquettes, beef teriyaki meatballs, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, mac and cheese cups and vol-au-vents.

The supermarket has good delivery and collection availability in the week leading up to Christmas, but you can also pop into a store.

McDonald's launched its festive menu yesterday including a new crispy chicken sandwich.
