Cheapest places buy pints in the UK – as cost of beer jumps by 10p in a year

Sep 5, 2019

The cost of beer is on the rise.

Pubs are charging an average of 10p more for pints than they did last year.

And according to the Good Pub Guide, Brits are forking out an average of £3.79 for them.

While the booze in the capital is the priciest, there are still some places where you can get a cheap bevvy.

Shropshire pubs serve the most affordable beer.

On average, a pint sets punters back £3.47.

Close runners up are Herefordshire and Northumberland, where bevvies are priced at £3.48 and £3.52 respectively.

Meanwhile, those looking to swerve hefty lager costs should stay away from the capital.

Unsurprisingly, beer in London hits your bank balance the most.

At £4.57 a pint, you won’t get much change back from the pub landlord when getting a round in.

Surrey has been pinpointed as another up-market area as a single drink sets you back around £4.06.

Scottish punters are also paying more than the average.

North of the border, the pint price-point sits at £4.03.
