Electric scooter crash teen fights for life the day after Emily Hartridge killed

A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after crashing his electric scooter – just a day after the death of YouTuber Emily Hartidge in similar circumstances.

It is believed Emily is the first person to have died in an electric scooter crash in the UK after she was fatally hit by a lorry near her London home on Friday.

On Saturday morning, a teenage boy riding an e-scooter slammed into a bus stop in London and had to be flown to hospital in an air ambulance.

He suffered a serious head injury and is currently in a critical condition, according to the Met Police.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called to Monks Orchard Road, Beckenham, at 11.42am on Saturday, 13 July, to reports that a teenage boy had crashed an electric scooter.


"Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

"A 14-year-old boy was found with a serious head injury after it was reported his scooter had collided with a bus stop.

"He was taken by air ambulance to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"His next of kin have been informed. Enquiries into the circumstances continue."
