Hailey Bieber shows off new ‘chocolate glazed donut nails’ – here’s how to copy the trend

Sep 22, 2022

It’s fair to say that whatever Hailey Bieber does, the world wants to copy. At no time has this been more obvious than when she debuted what she termed a “glazed donut” nail look at the Met Gala earlier this year – a pale, pearlescent polish combination that before long everybody was asking for at their local salon.

Now the 25-year-old has just revealed a new nail colour, inspired by another donut flavour – and we predict it’s going to be THE new nail trend of AW22.

Hailey recently posted a snap to Instagram showing off long, glossy brown nails with a similar iridescent finish – a look the model’s nail artist Zola Ganzorigt has officially termed “chocolate glazed donut nails”.

And for anyone curious about how to get this look themselves at their next manicure appointment, Zola has helpfully explained exactly how she created this trend. After applying a base coat, she mixed together two different shades of brown DND Gel Polish – Coffee Bean and Spiced Brown – before applying in thin layers to the nails, followed by a glossy top coat. Then, as with the original glazed doughnut look, OPI Chrome Effects Powder in Tin Man Can was buffed over the nail, giving that signature shimmery finish.

Followers were quick to show their love for this colour combo, which is perfect for autumn. “Love it when you do these glazed donut nails,” commented one fan, while another wrote: “Obsessed with how you mixed the browns!”

If your local salon doesn’t have these exact shades, at-home gel polish brand Mylee has explained how you can recreate the look yourself. Terming it “chocolate ganache nails”, the brand’s senior ambassador and nail technician Tinu Bello recommends applying two coats of Mylee Gel Polish in Choco-Latte, £7.99 here, followed by one coat of Sea Shell, £7.99 here, to get Hailey’s sugar-coated style.

Mylee’s gel polishes need to be cured under a UV or LED lamp (prices start from £20), so if you prefer a regular nail polish you may find that your usual favourite brand sells similar colours.

If you’re after more autumnal inspo to take to your next salon appointment, we’ve pulled together the best nail art designs inspired by the seasonal favourite coffee, the pumpkin spice latte – think cute dots and French manicures in autumnal browns, burnt oranges and warm neutral shades.

We can’t wait to see which flavour donut will inspire Hailey’s next manicure. Strawberry sprinkles, perhaps?
