It’s more often than not that our favourite soap stars look different in real life than their on-screen personas, but Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson looks almost unrecognisable after ditching her trademark mousy brown hair for a beachy-blonde shade.

The 38-year-old actress has left fans stunned after she shared a snap of her fresh blonde locks on Instagram. Lucy-Jo’s new look is a far cry from the darker shade her character Donna-Marie Quinn wears on the Channel 4 soap.

The star initially shared the post to rave about some semi-permanent makeup she’s had applied to her eyebrows and lips, but fans couldn’t help but point out her new ‘do as well.

“Hey blondie… looking as fit as,” one fan says, as another writes, “love your hair too!!!”

“Doesn't even look like you! Looks [like a] completely different person,” a third writes, pointing out how the star couldn’t look further from her soap character.

The female cast of Hollyoaks are known for their glamorous beauty looks and it looks like Lucy-Jo has taken a leaf out of their book, as not only has she switched up her hairstyle but she’s also treated herself to some fresh ombre brows and a lip blushing treatment.

The star’s caption reads; “Thankyou @claire_j_hobson for my eyebrows and lips….. the colours are perfect and they have healed beautifully.”

“You really are the best when it comes to permanent make up,” she adds.

Lucy-Jo’s fans are loving the results, with many people commenting on her “stunning” looks.

“Erm I want what you’re having .. you look,” one person writes, posting a fire emoji.

“You look gorgeous Luce,” another says, whilst a third writes; “You are such an absolute stunner.”

Lucy-Jo recently re-joined the cast of Hollyoaks after leaving the show in 2019, when her character was sent to prison.

Fans were pleased to see the star return to the show, which she announced by posting a backstage snap of herself dressed as Donna to Instagram.

“SHE’S BACK,” she writes in the caption.

The actress has also starred in Coronation Street, Wild at Heart and BBC’s Doctors, which earned her a British Soap Award for Villain of the Year in 2017 for her role of Rhiannon Davis.

Lucy-Jo has been through quite the transformation over the years, having donned short, spiky brunette hair on Corrie, but we’re loving her new look. What do you think?
