Is it bad to uninvite our guests because I want a sexy Christmas?

Dec 24, 2021

DEAR DEIDRE: My partner asked his single colleague to join us for Christmas – but I want to withdraw his invitation.

When my partner told me this man, who’s in his 50s, would be alone over the holidays, I said I felt sorry for him.

My partner took this to mean he should invite him to ours – not just for Christmas lunch, but to stay for a couple of nights.

The man was delighted. But he’s dull and a bit odd.

And I was really looking forward to a quiet – and dare I say – romantic Christmas.

I’ve even bought some sexy lingerie that I was planning to wear on Christmas Eve.

It’s now causing arguments between us. My partner thinks I’m being selfish and don’t have any Christmas spirit.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your partner is right. Christmas is supposed to be a time when we extend cheer to those less fortunate.

Uninviting him would be rude and mean.

Perhaps you could compromise and say he’s welcome to stay for one night, but you have plans for the rest of the period.
