Let's be honest, teenage boys probably aren't the demographic you'd expect to be the most mature about and accepting of periods.
Especially when even grown men often show themselves to be woefully ill-informed.
Yet one young man has demonstrated that there's hope yet after he came to a girl's rescue on the schoolbus.
Now, her mum is singing the lad's praises and has reached out to his mum, saying she "raised him right".
The mum shared what happened on the Facebook page Gurgaon Moms, after her daughter was caught off-guard having started her period on the school bus (of all places).
It could have gone in a very different direction, had a boy who was older than her not noticed.
The mum wrote: "My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today.
"A boy a year older than her…that she doesn't really know…pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants and gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk home off of the bus."
"She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said it's okay…but the boy insisted and told her 'I have sisters, it's all good!'"
So touched and impressed was the mum by the boy's maturity and sensitivity, that she added:
"If you are this boy's Mom… I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!!
"We hear so many bad things about today's youth, and I wanted to share something positive!"
It didn't take long for others to react to the mum's story and were also impressed by the boy's actions.
As one person put it: "It would have been so tempting to make fun of her.
"And even if not that, very awkward to have this conversation with a stranger."
