WE were delighted when we bought our semi two years ago but within days of moving in, I realised we’d made a terrible mistake.
I’m 34 and my husband is 36. The walls are so thin that our neighbour can hear absolutely everything.
As I got the shopping out of the car one day, she commented: “So annoying when they won’t clean up, isn’t it? Try not to shout too loud, though!”
Then she walked off with a smug look on her face.
She’s 71 and lives on her own. Since then we’ve tried hard to be quiet but she can even hear me call upstairs to my husband.
She makes snide remarks if we fall out.
Can you consider soundproofing your home – or at least the adjoining wall in the room where you spend most time?
