Emily Simpson tested positive for COVID-19 this summer and feared her husband would die from his battle with the virus, she revealed on Wednesday’s installment of “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”
The Bravo star, 44, was diagnosed in July, Bravo’s Daily Dish reported Wednesday, as were her husband, Shane, and their children.
“I wish I could trace back to exactly how I got it because I feel like, personally, I did everything I was supposed to do, as far as the pandemic. I tried to live life and take precautions, and I ended up getting it and I don’t even know where,” Simpson said in her confessional (via the Daily Mail).
Although Simpson only dealt with “a little bit of a headache” and tiredness, Shane, 45, was hospitalized as he endured difficulty breathing.
“I’m scared that my husband’s not gonna make it, he’s going to die,” the mom of three said on the show. “He’s gonna die at a hospital, and not only is he gonna die at the hospital, but he’s gonna die alone because I know I can’t go to the hospital and my kids can’t go to the hospital because you’re not allowed.”
Simpson also provided an update on her husband’s health to co-star Shannon Beador, saying he was “throwing up and was coughing up blood.”
There was also a moment in time when Simpson had not heard from Shane, only to discover from the ER he had been asleep. He later texted his wife back: “This is worse than prison,” and “Every hour is live a fight to live.”
Simpson called the ordeal “a complete nightmare,” when speaking Wednesday to Bravo’s Daily Dish.
“I feel like there was a couple times I was on the brink of a nervous breakdown,” Simpson said. “It was more than one person could handle. I remember calling [cast mate] Gina [Kirschenheiter] a couple times bawling.”
