What you should know about Bake Offs practice tent and where it is located

Oct 7, 2021

Bake Off is back in full swing, and it's safe to say we're already hooked.

It was revealed that the bakers actually have a practice tent, and we wanted to find out more.

Viewers were shocked to learn that there's a practice tent, with one person saying: "The mention of a ‘practice tent’ just has me picturing a place that has the same layout as the proper tent.

"But without all the charming decor and sweetness, like a dark side version of the tent, even hotter and less hospitable, that has to be kept off camera.”

Another added: "There’s a practice tent?! Why have I not heard about this before now?"

A third penned: "I do know that the bakers practice but I think my illusion with #GBBO have been shattered by the disclosure of the practice tent?"

Viewers found out about the tent after contestant Lizzie said she'd bee watching Harry Potter instead of preparing her bakes in the practice tent.

The Bake Off practice tent exists in the Down Hall Hotel grounds, which is where the contestants stay during the competition.

Contestants are able to go there to practice their baking and we've actually seen it in action before.

During Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice in 2020, contestants were spotted using the tent in footage.

The tent was first introduced during the 2020 series, after tighter restrictions were put in to place during Covid.

The hotel where the tent exits is known for its elegance and grandeur, and has classic rooms and grand suites.

During the latest instalment, which was Bread Week, the bakers had to create focaccia, olive and cheese ciabatta breadsticks for the technical challenge and milk bread for the signature.

However, Rochica failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with her creations as she became the third contestant to leave the tent.

Speaking after her exit, she said: "I have really, really enjoyed it. Not everybody gets to bake in the Bake Off tent. So I'm proud of where I've got to."

GBBO fans were left devastated as they took to Twitter to share their disappointment over her exit, insisting that she deserved to go further on the competition.

One person said: "Disappointed Rochica left but love Maggie too, both my favourites. Tough decision tonight #GBBO."

A different account put: "Aw I'm sad for Rochica #GBBO," followed by crying emojis.
