Whitney Houston's best friend of three decades claimed Eddie Brown, Spice Girl Mel B's ex alleged the actor attempted to stop Whitney's marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

Robyn has opened cup about how Whitney was infatuated with Hollywood legend Eddie Murphy.

In her new book, Crawford has revealed that New Edition singer, Bobby Brown, chased the attention of the Million Dollar Bill singer in 1989, despite the singer allegedly hoping for romance with Eddie Murphy.

Whitney then "lost herself" in the process.

Robyn wrote: "She was more interested in Eddie Murphy, but he was elusive."

Eddie and Whitney were supposed to get together for dinner one evening at the megastar's New Jersey mansion, with Whitney going all out to impress Mel B's ex.

Her friend added: "One day when Eddie was supposed to come for dinner, I caught a glimpse of Whitney.

"She was wearing a black dress and low-heeled slingbacks. For a moment, I thought ‘Boy, I wish she was doing that for me.'"

However, it was sad news for the legendary singer as Eddie "never showed up that night," which is believed to have left Whitney devastated.

It was further alleged, the star received a call from Murphy on the morning of her wedding to Bobby Brown.

The Hollywood actor was allegedly making a last-minute attempt to stop the nuptials, but his wishes fell on deaf ears, according to Whitney's pal.

Robyn went on to say: "[That day] Eddie Murphy called to say she was making a mistake, but she pressed ahead."

She added that Whitney's health, mental wellbeing and fortune began to deteriorate from this day on and said it was "difficult" to watch her become so isolated.

She hopes that the publication will give the public another view of Whitney and get across what a "big-hearted and generous friend" she was.

Robyn added: "I have a lot of beautiful, wonderful, exciting, adventurous, loving, caring memories of Whitney.

"Whitney was a beautiful friend, the friend that I prayed for."

Whitney's life was cut short at the age of 48, following years of debt and substance abuse.

It's believed that she blew her £77.8 million fortune before her death.

She tragically died in a bath at the Beverly Hilton hotel in 2012, following a binge on cocaine, cannabis and prescription drugs ahead of the annual Grammy Awards.
