Kylie Minogue shares unearthed snaps of Olivia Newton-John in touching tribute

Kylie Minogue has uploaded a heartbreaking tribute to Olivia Newton-John on Instagram.

Olivia, who is best known for her starring role as Sandy Olsson in Grease, passed away at 73, her husband confirmed on Monday (August 8).

Aussie singer Kylie shared a lovely message alongside a throwback snap of the duo in the late 80s taken shortly after the release of Kylie's hit Loco-Motion.

The uploaded black and white snap showed a delighted younger-looking Kylie, wearing a rather elegant dress, standing beside Olivia, who's in a sleek black number, as the pair get papped.

The unearthed image, taken at the Royal Bicentennial Concert, captured Kylie's adoration for the Hollywood legend as Kylie looked at her idol in complete awe.

In her touching caption, Kylie expressed that as a young starlet, she looked up to the late actress.

Kylie wrote in her caption: "Since I was ten years old, I have loved and looked up to Olivia Newton-John. And I always will.

"She was, and always will be, an inspiration to me in so many, many ways. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. x ONJ4EVER."

Throughout Kylie's music career, the Aussie superstar has continued to look-up up to Olivia.

During a 2018 appearance on BBC's Reel Stories, the Can't Get You Out Of My Head singer opened up about the first time she met Olivia and expressed to the star the impact she had on her life growing up.

A young Kylie pointed at Olivia while watching an old interview of the pair and said: "That's who I wanted to be. And then I got to kind of follow in her footsteps, in real life, which is amazing!"

In the archival video, the two-stage and screen icons appear during an interview while Olivia praises Kylie on her rise to stardom.

"It seems like she knows what she's doing, and she's got her feet on the ground," Olivia shared.
