Carson, California rapper REASON is gearing up for the release of his inaugural Top Dawg Entertainment project, and the latest teaser track to release is “Sauce,” a laid-back tune with a thumping bassline and a guest verse from Vince Staples. Following closely in the footsteps of Reason’s last single release — “The Soul (Pt. 2)” — “Sauce” displays Reason’s casual confidence.

The track’s Omar Jones-directed visual shows a top-down perspective of a day in the life of Reason, starting off with a casual cruise around the streets of Los Angeles before taking a somber turn when he reminisces about being accosted by the LAPD as a child and is pulled over in the present day. Atop a sparse-yet-booming piano driven beat from NIL$ and Bizness Boi, Reason delivers vicious lines like “Way, way, way, way, ridin’ ‘round town on Sunset, Cali weed loud like Funk Flex, road trips, low drip, don’t rush s**t, those b***h ass n****s know f**k s**t, don’t know f**k s**t, get chick-checked, treat a queen like a queen, don’t give a b***h s**t” in disarmingly casual fashion.

Staples’ proclivity for witty wordplay is on full display as well, thanks to grin-inducing lines like “Who got the sauce, who got the sauce? Whip the rock with the Voss” and more serious bars like “On the concrete, with my dawgs and a stick like a bomb suite, cookin’ up better duck like a confit, cause it’s on me and a n***a never ever have to warn me.”

Watch “Sauce” above and expect REASON’s new TDE project to arrive later this fall.
