90 Day Fiancé fans first met Rebecca Parrott, a 49-year-old mom from Woodstock, GA, and Zied Hakimi, a 27-year-old from Tunisia, on the third season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.
Rebecca and Zied wrestled with cultural differences and issues around Rebecca’s past – including her former husband, from whom she wasn’t yet legally divorced at the time, and her past relationship with a woman – but they stayed together and vowed to make things work.
After updating viewers on their story in April 2020 on the TLC GO series 90 Day Fiancé: What Now, Zied and Rebecca decided to return to TLC once again for 90 Day Fiancé season 8. The upcoming season premieres on Sun., Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. EST. Here’s what you should know about what might play out between Rebecca and Zied on season 8.
Who are Rebecca and Zied?
Despite Rebecca and Zied’s 22-year age difference, the May-December 90 Day Fiancé couple had enough chemistry that they decided to pursue love across the miles.
Rebecca – a former private investigator who now runs a restaurant – was concerned about how Zied would react to her protracted divorce with her ex-husband, who hails from Morocco. When she met Zied in person for the first time, Rebecca was already legally separated and had filed for divorce. Still, she technically wasn’t divorced yet, which concerned her younger boyfriend.
Zied was also much more conservative, both culturally and religiously, than Rebecca. She sported tattoos, favored leather jackets and cleavage-baring tops, and had a lengthy dating history that included relationships with both men and women. For Zied, these were concerns.
But their love won out in the end, and Zied popped the question at the end of Rebecca’s visit to his home country.
Rebecca confronted Zied about his motives in the season 8 preview
On 90 Day Fiancé season 8, Rebecca anxiously prepares for Zied’s arrival in the U.S. She scrambles to save enough money to support him through the K-1 visa, as well as to find the perfect house. Meanwhile, Rebecca’s daughter, Tiffany, wonders if Zied is just using her mom.
In TLC’s preview for the season, Zied and Rebecca seemed to be at a standstill in terms of their religious differences. Zied even threatened not to go through with the wedding at all if they didn’t do so before Ramadan.
“So you’re not gonna stay with me if I don’t marry you before Ramadan?” a visibly stressed-out Rebecca asked Zied incredulously in the preview.
“No,” Zied told his bride-to-be in no uncertain terms.
Perhaps especially due to her daughter Tiffany’s doubts, as well as those of Tiffany’s boyfriend Micah, Rebecca began to wonder if Zied might be rushing the wedding for underhanded reasons.
“Zied seems dead-set about getting married as quickly as possible, and it’s making me question his motives,” the 90 Day Fiancé star confessed to TLC producers.
Zied and Rebecca appear to have gotten married already
Despite Rebecca and Zied’s issues in the previews for 90 Day Fiancé season 8, it seems they ultimately worked them out – at least long enough to tie the knot.
According to Soap Dirt, the couple got married in Rebecca’s home state of Georgia on April 19, 2020, after getting a marriage license on April 14. The ceremony took place at a North Georgia resort, making Zied Rebecca’s fourth husband.
Luckily, it seems that the couple was able to reunite in the U.S. for good and go through the K-1 visa process before the COVID-19 crisis escalated and strict lockdowns began. They’ve continued to be lovey-dovey on social media in recent weeks – without giving away too many details, of course.
