A PLACE in the Sun's Ben Hillman was left red-faced after a couple ripped into a 'shoebox' property.
A recent episode of the Channel 4 show saw Ben meet pals Chris and Richard, who hoped to find a holiday home in Tenerife.
The pair became friends 10 years ago, when Richard agreed to become Chris' tour guide on holiday, as he is visually impaired.
Since then, they have holidayed on the island many times, and hoped to find a nice property with their combined budget of £110,000.
Ben didn't get off to the best start, as the pair were unimpressed by the first and second properties.
The third apartment was more to their liking, with the men both appreciating its views and modern interiors.
However, things went downhill again with the fourth property, a ground floor two-bedroom apartment which was once used as a shop.
Despite being well under budget at £76,000, Chris and Richard felt it was "pretty basic" and "boxy", as one of the bedrooms didn't even have any windows.
Richard said: "It's basically like it was one shop and there's a [blanket] on the wall, which might be a window, but it might not.
"It probably isn't because there's next door there so I don't think there's a window."
Chris added: "It just doesn't seem to have any personality, it's literally a shoebox."
Richard replied: "It hasn't got any personality, and there's no character."
A communal pool and low cost wasn't enough to change their minds, and when Ben asked how they had got on, they didn't hold back.
Chris said: "Not very well really, sorry. We appreciate the bargain factor, and it will be a bargain for someone, but unfortunately that's not us."
In the end, the pair liked the third property best and went back to see it again, however, they ultimately decided not to make an offer and their search continued.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
