A Welsh castle estate with 26 bedrooms is on the market for £1.25million

If you’ve always fancied buying a doer-upper, how does a Gothic castle sound?

A run-down Welsh castle estate with 26 bedrooms has just gone on the market for £1,250,000 – and it offers amazing views of Conwy and the Snowdonia peaks.

Named Bryn Corach, the impressive property is set on 2.6 acres and boasts incredible features such as a turret, croquet lawn and castle wall, along with high-coved ceilings, open fireplaces and French windows.

What’s more, the Grade-II listed castle – which was a former hotel – has two other buildings that come with it: a former lodge house and three-storey accommodation block, which houses the 26 bedrooms.

But it’s worth pointing out that anyone thinking of buying the property must be willing to put some work into it – as it’s in quite a derelict state.

Bryn Corach was extended in the early 20th century with the detached building added in 1963. Estate agent, Dafydd Hardy – behind the listing – stresses while this building is in need of some repair and upgrading works, it does ‘offer potential for conversion to holiday apartments or a lucrative holiday letting business.’

They added: ‘Alternatively, planning permission is also in place to demolish the modern accommodation and reinstate the site to a family home.’

With a bit of TLC, the former lodge house could also be transformed into a self-contained studio apartment – as it offers a ground floor lounge, kitchen and shower room.

It’s a property listing seeping with history too, as the original structure of Bryn Corach House is noted for its social historical interest, as a hotel, and for its architectural qualities and character.

There’s no denying the castle has a lot of potential and could be a beautiful family home for anyone willing to get stuck in.
