Alistair Petrie has portrayed the former headmaster Michael Groff since the first season of Sex Education. Stuck-up and rigid, his students weren’t his biggest fans and neither was his wife Maureen (Samantha Spiro) or his son Adam Groff (Connor Swindells). However, Netflix viewers started to have a very different opinion of him towards the end of the latest season.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Sex Education.
Mr Groff’s life was in tatters as he moved in with Mr Colin Hendricks (Jim Howick) after he overheard his brother Peter (Jason Isaacs) wanting him out of the house.
Gradually, Mr Groff started to realise where he had gone wrong and confessed to Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) how his father had bullied him as a child.
Wanting to make amends with Maureen, Mr Groff went to see her and they ended up sleeping together.
But she felt it would be the wrong thing for Adam if they reconciled and so once again broke Mr Groff’s heart as she cancelled their plans for dinner.
Who is Alistair Petrie’s wife?
In real-life, actor Petrie is married to 50-year-old actress Lucy Scott.
She is probably best known for portraying Charlotte Lucas in the 1995 BBC production Pride and Prejudice.
Scott has also been in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Rosemary & Thyme, Spooks and Modern Toss.
Since 2008 though, Scott hasn’t had any acting work according to her IMDB page so may have decided to take a step back from the industry.

Who are Alistair Petrie’s children?
Little did fans know while watching the third series of Sex Education was that they had seen Petrie’s real-life sons.
In episode five of the latest season, the Moordale School students were going on a day trip to France.
While onboard the coach, Rahim (Sami Outalbali) blocked the toilet and in a moment of panic, he took his sock off, filled it with the overflowing poo and threw it out of the window.
Unfortunately for him, the sock hit a passing car which caused both them and the coach to crash into one another.

Luckily no one was hurt but twin teenagers are seen grinning as Mr Hendricks realises it was poo on the window.
The twins are played by Cal and Brodie Petrie, the sons of actor Alistair Petrie.
Brodie shared some behind the scene pictures with the cast and crew of season three.
One of which was of him, his brother Cal and their dad in a Moordale School uniform.
Just a week after the series was dropped onto the streaming service, it was announced there would be more episodes to come.
Taking to Twitter, Netflix tweeted: “Breaking news: Sex Education to return for season four.”
As of yet though, there has been no talk of when the comedy-drama will be returning.
Sex Education seasons 1-3 are available to watch on Netflix.
