Coronation Street fans are certain they've worked out the mystery culprit who left Adam Barlow's (Sam Robertson) for dead.

Viewers witnessed Ken Barlow's grandson get attacked during Friday's dramatic hour-long special.

The hunky chap created a lot of animosity among the Barlow family in the wake of his one night stand with Carla Connor (Alison King) being exposed.

He was then attacked and left to die in the Bistro and there are quite a few culprits with a motive for wanting Adam out of the picture for good.

However, a number of fans think they know exactly who knocked out the dishy solicitor.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Simon did it 100%."

Another added: "Who do you think hit Adam? Everyone looks suspicious. I'm thinking Simon for some reason."

A third person posted: "Simon hit Adam with the brick that has Peter's finger prints on."

While a fourth guessed: "My money is on Simon as Adam’s attacker."

Simon (Alex Bain) found his dad Peter (Chris Gascoyne) in a state after sinking a bottle of booze, Adam was nearby and there was a major argument which led to Simon discovering that Carla had cheated on his dad with Adam.

Blaming Adam for his dad’s relapse, which he has been warned could kill him, Simon was left disgusted with Adam.

The youngster doesn't appear in the official suspect lineup but anything can happen in Soapland.

Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) walked into the Bistro to find an unconscious Adam laying on the floor during the latest visit to Weatherfield.

Word spread about Adam's attack as he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Will he survive or does a Weatherfield resident have blood on their hands.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
