Coronation Street's Fiz Stape could be in grave danger, as viewers reckon they've worked out a 'sinister' abuse plot with her new beau Phill.

Since Tyrone cheated on Fiz with Romanian beauty Alina Pop, she's been getting to know new man Phill – and Tyrone has constantly raised his doubts about him, branding him "too nice".

Phill covered for Ty when he pretended to have more input into his girls' science project, and let him soak up the undeserved glory.

And he's always happy to dish out advice.

But fans reckon it could all be a surface act, and Phill could simply be following in the footsteps of Geoff Metcalfe, who abused his wife Yasmeen for months until he finally met his sticky end.

Geoff was known for being cheerful and friendly to outsiders, while threatening his wife behind closed doors with knives, forcing her to wear ill fitting clothes and locking her in a box.

Taking to Twitter, one fan couldn't help but point out the similarities between the pair, as they wrote: "Is Fill It Phill gonna be another Jiggle It Geoff I wonder?" referring to Geoff's magician nickname after falling apart on stage.

"Phill's too good to be true, I suspect," another followed up.

As another fan posted: "Is Phill just a stand up guy or is there something simmering waiting to get out?"

And a fourth echoed: "Wonder when Phill is going to stitch Fiz up cos you can see it coming a mile off!"

"Nice guy is Phill. Serial killer qualities!" someone else couldn't resist quipping.

It came as Tyrone headed out on a date with new girl Isla – played by Emmerdale's Gemma Oaten.

Gemma played Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale from 2011 until 2015, welcoming a son – Archie – with Jai Sharma.

The young mum left the village and was killed off-screen after suffering a cardiac arrest at home, while her sister Ali was also killed off in an off-screen car accident.

Things were also getting tense for Summer in the soap, as she pursues an illicit romance with teacher Daniel – although he clearly doesn't reciprocate his student's affections.

Instead, Summer watched heartbroken as Daniel welcomed Daisy up to his flat after telling her he was off to bed.

Coronation Street continues on Tuesday at 8pm on ITV.
