Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has revealed he "f***ed up" his chance of Hollywood superstardom, after he wasn't chosen for the main part in an iconic film.
The actor, who plays David Platt in the street, missed out on a part in smash-hit movie Billy Elliot to Jamie Bell after bombing in his audition as a kid.
The 2000 flick went on to pick up a clutch of awards and was also nominated for three Oscars.
Jack, 33, revealed on his Sofa Cinema Club podcast with fellow Corrie stars Colson Smith and Ben Price: "When this film came out I was like 11/12 years old and I’d obviously been for an audition.
"I was only gutted in the sense that I didn’t get it because of the success the film went on to do – Academy Award nominations."
He added: "And I used to watch the Academy Awards religiously, getting up in the middle of the night to watch them.
"So, when you sort of see a film that you auditioned for, it could have been you."
Ben chimed: "That’s hard.''
Jack continued: "Yeah, I suppose, yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I’d have done anywhere near as good a performance as Jamie Bell did.''
Colson questioned the actor and said: "But you’d have liked the chance?''
"Well, I did have the chance and I f***ed it up!'' Jack exclaimed.
Jack has played the role of David in Coronation Street for 21 years and has been involved in several serious and also very entertaining storylines.

The actor has gone on to win numerous awards throughout his career too and has picked up several gongs for his performances.
The star received the award for Best Young Actor at the Inside Soap Awards only a year after he appeared in Corrie.
