Love Island star David Salako has opened up about his time in the 2023 villa and has lifted the lid on the apparent rift between co-starsOlivia Hawkins and Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown.
After Zara entered the villa as a bombshell alongside David, the pair first clashed when 25 year oldZara accused the 27 year old as being “two faced” during a game of dares-meets-beer pong.
The pair then continued to clash after they became embroiled in a love triangle when Zara’s head turned for Islander Tom Clare, despite Olivia previously showing a romantic interest for the semi-professional footballer player.
But while the ‘love triangle’ may be a thing of the past,with newbie Spencer Wilks coupling up with Olivia, 25 year old David has said that you can occasionally still “feel the tension” in the Love Island villa.
During an appearance on theReality with Will Njobvu podcast, David was asked by the host whether Olivia and Zara’s feud was “as intense” in reality as it appeared on screen.
Replying to the question, he said: "There may be underlying stuff going on. Who knows? But there's definitely a feud between the two in the villa. Sometimes you can feel the tension in the villa.”
And though David acknowledged that their rift appeared to be over, he added that he didn’t think that viewers will have seen the last of the tension.
“They've squashed it now but I don't think that's the end. If this carries on with Tom – the triangle – it's probably going to get worse,” he added.
Since Olivia and Zara entered the villa, viewers have questioned their relationship outside of the show after it was discovered thatboth women starred in a music video alongside each other a few years ago.
In fact, in the music video for Dapz's track Take You Away, which came out in 2019, the two dancers can both be seen enjoying the Hollywood Hills pool party.
Confirming that the duo have history away from the Love Island villa,David took to TikTok where he responded to a user who had asked whether Olivia and Zara knew each other previously.
In the video, a fan asked: “Did Olivia and Zara talk about that they knew each other outside the villa?”
To which David responded: “Yeah, this is something that was discussed in the villa, so, they told everyone; I think Zara told everyone that she knew Liv and Liv confirmed.”
