Max Branning (Jake Wood) has his ideal EastEnders exit mapped out – an overseas goodbye with lover Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). It doesn’t look like that is going to go his way though – as he is due to make a dramatic goodbye in coming weeks.
Max has been pivotal to huge storylines for 15 years – from the iconic reveal of his affair with Stacey and the breakdown of his marriage to Tanya through to his loss of daughter Abi and his revenge on the Square as James Willmott-Brown’s henchman.
Max thought that he had won Linda’s heart – but her heart will always lie with husband Mick (Danny Dyer).
But another person that always holds the heart of the lothario is Stacey (Lacey Turner) – with Max due to exit come February, could it clash with Lacey’s maternity leave? Might a shock reunion be on the cards as they both depart?
Show boss Jon Sen revealed: ‘After 15 years, we’re set to say goodbye to Max Branning and it’s safe to say he’ll go out in dramatic style.’
Very cryptic but a character like Max was never going to go out quietly.
Jake recently spoke out to thank fans for all their support as he looked ahead to new projects on his last day filming on the Square.
Bosses will not be killing the character off so it may not necessarily be the end of Max’s story.
Let’s hope it’s more a goodbye for now rather than bon voyage forever.
