EastEnders' Dotty Cotton's horror as shock relative returns to Walford to expose her sick plan

Sep 27, 2021

EASTENDERS' Dotty Cotton is going to be horrified this month when her mum Sandy turns up in Walford.

The bar manager – who is played by actress Milly Zero in the BBC soap – is running a scam with her uncle Tom pretending to be Sonia Fowler's long lost dad Rocky.

However the arrival of her mum threatens to expose all her plans.

Last month it was revealed that the actress will join the BBC soap this autumn.

`Actress Martha Cope has taken over the role of Sandy.

And her appearance as Sandy is set to cause chaos for Dotty as she struggles to hide her scheme while her mum's in Walford.

Sandy made her first appearance in Walford back in 2010 and was portrayed by Caroline Pegg.

Martha's alter-ego Sandy has had problems with alcohol in the past, which led to her split with Nick Cotton (John Altman).

She fell pregnant with Dotty (Milly Zero), but kept it a secret, however Nick managed to get custody of the tot when he came out of prison.

Nick told his daughter that her mum passed away in a car accident.

Sandy was last seen on our screens 11 years ago when Dot (June Brown) helped her reunite with Dotty.

The student – played by Milly Zero – returned to the Square two years ago and recently ruffled some feathers after sleeping with Tiffany Butcher's (Maisie Smith) husband Keegan behind her back.

Speaking out about her new role, Martha said: “I have watched EastEnders since it began and I’m beyond excited to join such an iconic show and having a great time playing Sandy.”

Jon Sen, Executive Producer, EastEnders added: “Martha is a brilliant addition to our cast – we’re excited to welcome her to Walford.

"To say Sandy has a chequered past is an understatement and it’s no secret that Dotty’s upbringing was marred by her parents.

"Sandy’s arrival catches Dotty off guard and she’ll be forced to confront everything she’s tried to leave behind.”
