Mila Marwa (played by Ruthxjiah Bellenea) is set to find out her mum Nyangi’s (Lucy Vandi) fate next week on EastEnders. Viewers of the BBC soap will know Nyangi was arrested in the summer following Mila’s attempts to stop her teenage sister Kioni (Florisa Kamara) from undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM), as she had experienced when she was younger. In scenes yet to air Nyangi will receive her sentence, but will her daughters flee Albert Square to start a new life together?

Mila will be faced with a difficult decision over her little sister next week following their mother’s sentencing.

However, she will first have to take a stand and protect Kioni from residents who object to their presence at The Albert.

In upcoming scenes, Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) sets up for the mosque fundraiser event in the pub while Iqra Ahmed (Priya Davdra) and Mila are waiting for the news about her mother’s sentencing.

Waseem Qureshi (Faraz M Khan) stops by and is taken aback to find they’re using The Albert for the event.

Iqra is annoyed and asks Waseem to leave but Mila steps in to stop the two from arguing.

Despite Mila’s best efforts, Waseem continues to make his views clear about the situation.

A clueless comment from him then upsets Kioni and, this time, it’s Mila who boots him out of the building as Iqra joins forces to protect her friend’s little sister.

Waseem is not the only one bothered by the fundraiser though as Aaron Monroe (Charlie Wernham), starts ranting about the “woke brigade” calling the nativity while the mosque is allowed to run the event.

Will Kioni be able to get over Waseem’s vicious comment and what will happen to her mother if she’s put behind bars?

EastEnders’ fans will recall how Mila was hoping to get through to her mum herself about calling off the FGM procedure without any police intervention.

So she was left devastated when she found out Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) had gone ahead and reported Nyangi to the police.

Mila will have to try her best to keep her little sister Kioni calm when the judge gives Nyangi the jury’s verdict in upcoming scenes.

However, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and her wife Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) end up scaring Kioni by telling her all about the horrors of prison life when they see her in the cafe.

Stacey and Eve were both recently released from prison themselves and their cruel chat with Kioni leaves the youngster terrified.

Later on, a fuming Mila confronts the lovers about what they told her little sister.

An apologetic Eve explains to Mila she and her new wife thought they were just helping teach Kioni about the realities of life behind bars.

With their mum’s pending verdict weighing heavily on Mila’s mind, will she pack her and Kioni’s bags so they cal flee Walford together to start over and protect Kioni?

Could the remarks and digs from other residents have pushed them into leaving as they feel they have no one to confide in?

Will they even want to visit their mother in prison if she is found guilty?

EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
