Emmerdale fans were left feeling rather elated during the latest episode after Chas Dingle appeared to disappear from the soap.

The character played by Lucy Pargeter has been the centre of controversy since her affair with late businessman Al Chapman came to light.

But eagle-eyed viewers noticed that she didn't appear on Monday night's episode (January 9), nor did she star in last week Friday's programme.

Heading straight over to Twitter, Emmerdale fans shared their views.

One social media user penned: "Another Chas free episode."

Another echoed: "Another night without Chas," followed by a gif of the cartoon character Homer Simpson cheering.

While a third shared a snap of Chas and wrote: "Just in case anyone is missing Chas."

Since Chas' husband Paddy discovered that his wife was planning to leave him for Al, the veterinary surgeon was understandably hurt and furious.

Although the couple share their young daughter Eve, Paddy was insistent that he didn't want much to do with Chas and wanted an end to their marriage.

Viewers have also seen to taken Paddy's side as many believed Chas' attitude throughout the last few months have been appalling.

Taking to Twitter throughout the weeks, one viewer penned: "Chas is getting annoying now, it’s all me me me me."

While another pointed out: "I can't stand Chas but hopefully she & Paddy can learn to co parent for Eve's sake."
