EastEnders' Katie Jarvis sentenced after admitting racial harassment

EX-EASTENDERS star Katie Jarvis has been sentenced to community service, after admitting racial harassment in an incident from 2020.

The actress, who played Hayley Slater on the BBC One soap until 2019, was arrested a year later after an altercation in Southend, Essex.

Basildon Crown Court heard about how someone from a party Jarvis was hosting tried to take a chair from a table where a woman, Michelle Antonio, was sat. After being told that the chair was needed, a fight broke out.

Jarvis claimed that Antonio was "aggressive", which she denied, while the court also heard that Jarvis said "Black lives don't matter" and referred to herself as a "celebrity".

Antonio is quoted as saying that the comments made her "feel disgusted and angry", and that she "can't believe in 2020 these things are still being said".

The former soap actress has been sentenced to two years of community service, with 200 hours of unpaid work and 60 days of specified activities.

Corrie fans left confused by 'invisible child' mystery plot twist

CORONATION STREET viewers were left distracted by an 'invisible child' mystery on Wednesday's episode, as Daisy discovers Daniel's dark secret.

In Wednesday's episode, Daisy suggested to Daniel that they all meet up for drinks after work.

But, Nicky arrived at the Rovers unaware that Daisy was trying to set her up with her ex Ashley, and Nicky was embarrassed when Ashley clearly recognised her.

Daisy was then left stunned to discover that Ashley knew Nicky from her days as a sex worker, and that Daniel had also paid Nicky for her time.

As the pair rowed in the street, Corrie fans were distracted by another detail – and that was the mention of Daniel's toddler son Bertie.

Viewers pointed out that Bertie is rarely seen these days, and has become 'invisible' in the soap.

One fan tweeted: "Corrie ooh Bertie, the invisible child, just got a mention." @Mel_Navan asked: "#Corrie So Ken has Bertie now does he? Beth & Kirk had him earlier…"

While another said: "I’ll get these to say thank you for looking after Bertie…says Daniel whilst in the pub and someone else is looking after invisible Bertie!"

And a third wrote: "Think I might go on the Coronation Street tour and see if I can find Bertie, sort of like a real like Where's Wally."
