Joel Dommett has revealed that filming for The Masked Singer UK 2021 has already finished, despite fears it would get shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The weird and wacky talent show will be back next year after ITV confirmed there would be a second series.
Host Joel has told how the upcoming season will be a ‘big step up’ from the first and despite it being months away, they have already finished filming it.
‘We finished filming this week – two days ago, which is amazing,’ Joel told Metro.co.uk.
‘It was mad, obviously, there were a lot of rules and regulations so the relief when we got it done was amazing.’
Joel went on to add that at one point, there were fears that production would have to be shut down.
‘There were a lot of rule changes at the time and everyone was scared it was going to get shut down halfway through,’ he continued.
‘The scale of the production of that show is so big, so I am so pleased that it’s done and ITV managed to get it done.’
Ahead of the series it was also revealed that Mo Gilligan would be replacing Ken Jeong for season two because of restrictions on international travel.
The Bafta-winning comedian is set to take a chair, joining the likes of Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross as they figure out who’s behind the mask in the wildly popular show.
The Masked Singer will return in 2021.
