Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) idea to apply for a late license at the Bistro has proved a controversial one, according to a new Coronation Street spoiler video.
Damon pitched the idea to Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) after it was revealed that new student accommodation was being built nearby.
He explained that they would be able to tap into the student market by staying open later.
However, Nick is set to discover that several locals have raised objections to the plan.
In the new clip, the older residents of Coronation Street are reminiscing about Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, as Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) prepares the pub for King Charles’ coronation celebrations.
They are soon interrupted by Nick, who arrives at the Rovers to tell everyone that they will be hosting a forum to discuss the plans for the late license.
When they are finally convinced to come by the promise of a glass of wine, he pulls Gail Platt (Helen Worth) aside for a chat.
He reveals to her that Sarah (Tina O’Brien) has informed him that their mum is very much against the idea, and has complained that the noise would keep her awake.
Gail is baffled by the accusation, claiming that she never said such a thing.
She points out that she has been sleeping really well recently, thanks to her ‘stimulator’, which David (Jack P Shepherd) doesn’t want to hear about.
With Gail insistent that she doesn’t have a problem, Nick is left wondering who is really telling the truth.
