It’s the couple we all want to make it but it’s not without its obstacles in Hollyoaks.
And even something as romantic as a proposal can cause a bit of turmoil between them. Crossed wires lead to a misunderstanding between Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) and her girlfriend Juliet.
We decided to have a well overdue catch up with Niamh Blackshaw, who plays Juliet and she revealed all about the proposal.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she explained: ‘Peri made comments that she might want to get married and it gets Juliet overthinking. At first, she thinks it’s not what she wants but then it’s a case of, well this is the person I love and want to be with.
‘She makes a plan to propose, and she’s really nervous because they’re young and haven’t been on good terms all that long. But overall she is excited.’
But the excitement could wane as it seems like Peri is going to reject the gesture.
‘I think she’d be very stubborn and a bit embarrassed as she put herself out there,’ she sighed.
‘But I feel she was doing it for Peri anyway because she thinks that’s what she wanted. It might be a bit of a relief, actually. She came with great intentions, everything happens for reason.
‘She might be bruised for a while but I don’t think it would be damaging to them long term.’
That’s a relief – well, if Juliet survives the explosion that is!
But, let’s get our cards on the table. Does Niamh reckon that the couple are ready to wed?
She mused: ‘I feel in a conflicted condition as I know Juliet would really like that and she and Peri have strong feelings for her. But take the characters out of the equation and just my opinion, I think they’re way too young and they need to spend more time figuring themselves out.
‘It’s a big decision to make and they don’t need the pressure but they are a really good couple. It’s a tricky situation!’
