James weighed in on a heated debate between journalists Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Mike Parry as they discussed the topic on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine. Appearing via video link on the show, the musician was asked what he thinks – having been a guest at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. He responded with a comment about Trump dealing with “important” issues.
It comes as Trump made comments about Meghan Markle while speaking to GB News’ Nigel Farage.
“I’m not a fan of hers at all,” the 75-year-old said of Meghan.
He told Farage: “And I think she’s very disrespectful to the Queen, who’s such a great woman, such a great person – a historic person.
“I think she’s very disrespectful to the Royal Family, but maybe most importantly to the Queen.”
Discussing the interview on Wednesday morning, Yasmin fumed to Jeremy and Mike: “Since when do we take any moral guidance from Donald Trump? Who has treated females in his life like things – like objects!”
“But I’m not making a judgement,” Mike cut in.
Yasmin continued: “Why are we even listening to this grotesque man?”
“Because he was elected president, that’s the reason,” Jeremy argued.
“But he isn’t now,” Yasmin pointed out.
“Why do people listen to Meghan?” Mike asked.
“Meghan starts writing to congress on a note paper-“
Yasmine interjected: “Which is her right as a citizen…”
“Yeah, but what I’m saying is why should anybody listen?” Mike went on.
Vine asked the two to settle down so James could give his opinion.
“Just listen to James, because James you’ve got a different vantage point, you were at the wedding of Harry and Meghan,” he explained.
“Yeah,” the 47-year-old replied before sarcastically dismissing the former Republican Party leader’s comments: “I’m really glad that Trump is dealing with the important issues of the day.”
Twitter user Glow commented on the discussion, writing: “Respect to Yasmin for once again sticking up for Meghan Markle hard on the bi-daily section on her on the Jeremy Vine show.
“Still noting how this show totally skips Prince William’s shenanigans and the critical commentary on him this last week (including the BBC doc).”
Miss Sahara penned: “YESSSSSS YASMIN YOU TELL THEM!!!!! #JeremyVine.”
Some had a different view, with Appletree commenting: “Too early for high pitched shouting from Yasmin, actually it will never be acceptable to deal with that sound, can she not just talk about stuff rather then wind herself up, glad that’s over #JeremyVine.” (sic)
Jeremy Vine airs weekdays at 9.15am on Channel 5.
