Jenny Ryan has spoken out over her return to The X Factor : Celebrity which was announced just a day after she was dropped from the series ahead of live shows.
Her Overs category mentor Nicole Scherzinger decided not to put her through, instead opting for Martin Bashir, Ricki Lake, and Victoria Ekanoye – while Vinnie Jones is also competing.
Viewers were outraged on the weekend after seeing Jenny sent home despite her incredible audition a week earlier.
She herself confessed she couldn't have done anymore, sharing her surprise at being sent home, but she wasn't expecting the reaction from the viewers at home.
It was confirmed by ITV this morning that the show had completed a u-turn, with Jenny now asked to take part in live shows.
Jenny confirmed the news was true appearing on This Morning on Monday morning.
She revealed it was actually judge Simon Cowell who called her up and "inferred" they'd made a mistake, asking her to return.
Speaking to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, The Chase star said: "We had the auditions, I was told I wasn’t going through, and I came home and cried a little bit. I ate a lot of ice cream.
"Then I got the phone call after what felt like the longest time, and I got a call from Simon inviting me to come back and join the live shows."
Eamonn asked if boss Simon confessed they'd made a mistake letting her go, with The Chase star suggesting this was the case.
Asked whether he specifically said it was a mistake, she said: "Not quite, it was inferred… I inferred it from what he said."
She then thanked the viewers for their huge support, as Eamonn questioned if the rage on Twitter could have been behind the change in decision.
Jenny will join the full live shows line-up this weekend as the series goes live for the first time, while she also confirmed the stars were collaborating with their mentors when it came to staging and song choices.
She explained Simon wanted the acts to lead the direction they were taking, and not do anything they didn't want to.
This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
